About

About Inward Stay

A worldwide directory for spiritual and wellness retreat discovery — so finding safe, ethical experiences does not require luck or insider knowledge.

Our mission

Spiritual practice and wellness immersion can be deeply restorative — but finding safe, ethical retreats and facilitators should not require luck or insider knowledge.

We are building the infrastructure seekers deserve: rigorous vetting, transparent information, and resources that help people make informed decisions across meditation, wellness, ceremony, and integration.

Why this matters

The growing interest

Interest in spiritual practice, wellness immersion, meditation, and ceremony experiences is growing worldwide. Most people still discover retreats through word-of-mouth or unverified listings.

The safety gap

Across spiritual and wellness retreats — including ceremony offerings — quality varies enormously. There is often little standard oversight. Seekers deserve clearer signals of care, ethics, and safety.

The information problem

Most people do not know what questions to ask or what standards should be met. They navigate high-stakes decisions without a reliable framework for evaluating safety and ethics.

Our approach

Infrastructure

Rigorous vetting

We evaluate facilitator credentials, safety protocols, participant experiences, and ethical practices. Listings are badged by review depth — Inward Stay vetted when evidence supports it, Directory record when the listing is lighter public-source review (see what we know / not confirmed on each detail page).

Education

Transparency first

Our guides teach what to look for, what to ask, and how to prepare. We publish vetting criteria openly so anyone can understand what quality and safety should look like.

Curation

Editorial, not algorithmic

We are not building another marketplace with SEO spam and paid placement. Every listing represents real review work and editorial judgment.

The founder journey

This project emerged from direct experience with both the profound healing potential and the real safety gaps across spiritual and wellness retreat settings — including ceremony.

After witnessing close friends have transformative experiences — and others encounter poorly trained facilitators — it became clear that the field needed infrastructure that does not yet exist.

Inward Stay is that infrastructure: a systematic approach to vetting, transparent standards, and educational resources for spiritual and wellness retreat seekers — with ceremony as one listing type among meditation, wellness, and integration.

Our values

Safety first

We never compromise on safety standards. If we cannot verify safety protocols, the retreat does not get a strong badge.

Cultural respect

Many ceremony and plant medicine practices come from indigenous traditions. We evaluate cultural integrity and reciprocity wherever facilitators work with those lineages — alongside meditation and wellness offerings.

Editorial integrity

Vetting decisions are editorial, never paid. We cannot be bought, and we do not optimize for maximum listings.

Continuous improvement

Standards evolve with new research, community feedback, and best practices as this field develops.
