Methodology

How we vet

Choosing a spiritual or wellness retreat is a high-stakes decision. You deserve to know exactly where this directory’s information comes from, what’s reviewed, what’s paid, and what isn’t. Here is the whole picture.

Public data

Facility & program listings

Listings are compiled from publicly available information — operator websites, published program pages, and provider submissions (reviewed before publishing). We list retreats whether or not they pay us.

Editorial review

Credentials & safety signals

Where available, we review facilitator training notes, screening practices, emergency plans, participant ratios, and cultural-respect statements. Matched claims appear as badges only when review confidence is high.

Public ratings

Reviews & reputation

Star ratings and review counts are stored snapshots from public sources when linked. We never write, edit, buy, or remove reviews — check the provider or the original review platform for the latest.

Community

Integration & aftercare notes

Integration circles, practitioner referrals, and aftercare links sync from public guides and partner directories where a reliable source exists. These are directories, not clinical referrals.

What’s paid, what’s not

Some operators may request featured placement in the future. Featured spots will always be labeled. Paid placement never changes a listing’s rating, reviews, or vetting badge, and operators cannot pay to remove accurate information. We do not take referral commissions on retreat bookings, and we do not operate a booking call center.

Standard directory listings remain free to browse. Requesting to be listed starts with an interest note — see List your retreat.

What we are not

We’re a directory and education layer — not a medical provider, counselor, travel agent, or booking service. We don’t give medical advice, diagnose conditions, or confirm your individual fitness for ceremony. Always verify screening, legality, and current offerings directly with the provider.

Plant medicine carries risks. Seek licensed care for medical or mental-health emergencies. Use our safety resources as a starting point, not a substitute for professional care.

Badge meanings

Shown on cards and detail pages when review depth supports them.

  • Inward Stay vetted

Credentials, safety protocols, and ethics notes reviewed with enough evidence to publish the badge.

  • Field reviewed

On-site or remote interview notes on file; still confirm current openings and protocols with the provider.

  • Credentials verified

Training or lineage documentation checked against what the facilitator provided or published.

  • Directory record

Listed from public sources; lighter review. Use “what we know / not confirmed” on the detail page.

How often things update

Listing text and contact details refresh when operators submit updates or when our editorial pass catches a change. Rating snapshots are monitored for age and refreshed through enrichment runs — not live on every visitor request. Broken links and stale pages are checked on a recurring schedule.

Found something wrong?

If a listing is inaccurate or a retreat has closed, write us and we’ll review it promptly. Operators can claim and update their listing through List your retreat.
